30, 60, 90 days, and Beyond: Successful Orientation and Retention

The first 90 days are critical in the success of new hires. Individuals need to be provided with an orientation plan that outlines detailed expectations and how to be successful. Leaders must provide clear and concise steps, ensure they meet human resource requirements, and conduct routine follow-up with new hires. Many times, the loss of talented staff in a short period of time can be traced to an ineffective orientation plan and lack of leadership follow-up.

Inventory Management in HTM: Building Accurate, Actionable, and Sustainable Asset Data

This presentation teaches HTM professionals how to build and sustain a high-accuracy medical equipment inventory using practical methods that eliminate gaps, variation, and duplication. It covers core inventory management elements—asset identification, data standardization, reconciliation with capital and financial systems, and workflows that keep inventory accurate over time through intake processes, validation cycles, and cross-department collaboration. Attendees will learn how strong inventory practices improve compliance, reduce service costs, strengthen capital planning, and create an audit-ready foundation for effective HTM program governance.

Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership Challenge

There are thousands of webinars, conference sessions, classrooms, online courses, and gurus ready to teach us how to be leaders, work as a team, and communicate. Admittedly, I’ve contributed to this treasure-trove of content. We listen intently and take copious notes, then hope we execute correctly when we return to the workplace. It occurs to me, though, that what we need is a means of testing our skills in a way that doesn’t risk disruption of real-world operations. A simulation that allows us to observe ourselves and others in situations that require effective communication, active teamwork, and empathetic leadership. Welcome to the tangram simulator.

Strategic Sourcing for Healthcare Technology Management

Attendees will be provided guidance on developing a sourcing strategy for vendors/business partners. The “cheapest” price provider may or may not be the right business partner for you, your patients and your employer. Developing a win-win strategy provides long-lasting and trusting relationships that meet the needs of fiscal and quality constraints that are necessary in today’s healthcare environment.
